Late post but never mind, at least I have something to be reviewed in the future. Ever since I created an Instagram account again, I've been thinking a lot whether the things that I wanted to post online is appropriate or not, worth-ed to be post or not. And eventually, it gave impact towards my blog as well, sooooo... I will try to write things that was memorable and had value instead of keep on talking about my feeling and everyday life. Haha.
Bukit Shahbandar Recreational Park, Brunei. 28 January 2017.
Hiking became a trends in the past few years. I love outdoor activities but hiking never crossed in my mind until this year. The Chinese New Year celebration fall at the end of January this year and unfortunately we were granted one day public holiday only. Rather than going back to Sabah, driving 5-6 hours, plus another 2 hours to Ranau, getting through the traffic jam, I choose to stay here. My fellow Sabahan colleague/friend, Ereney also stayed.
So, I was thinking about the possibility of any kind of activity that we should do instead of sleeping all day long. Normally, we will go to Miri since it's just 2 hours drive from my place, to go makan-makan, jalan-jalan and shopping a little bit but we can't really tolerate with the massive jammed at the immigration border (Brunei-Miri). So, out of the blue I said LET'S GO HIKING AT SHAHBANDAR THIS COMING SATURDAY! Ereney said yes and our hiking story begin.. XD
Few days before THE DAY,
Both of us have been to Bukit Shahbandar before (college's activity) but had never tried to hike, it was our first time. So, as the one who suggested this idea, I conducted my own research, googled everything about hiking and Bukit Shahbandar and I found out this website;
https://shimworld.wordpress.com/2015/04/13/hiking-in-brunei-darussalam-bukit-shahbandar-trail-map/
Very useful and informative. We decided to go for the 3 hills trails (you can refer the link above for more information about the trail). I downloaded the trail map in my phone and prepare everything from shoes to hiking bag. I just used my jogging shoes (I know it wasn't suitable) and my gym's outfit.
THE DAY,
We leave home around 4.30pm, it just 5-7 minutes drive from my place. Instead of starting to hike directly, we went to the food stall first for snacks. (I kid you not, haha). 5.00pm, we started off our journey. The trails was very good, the hiking direction sign also was very good and clear, the weather was good, everything was good except we kind of lost after the observation tower. We started at the playground and should end up there again but we end up at the futsal court, which took us longer time and by that time it's getting darker already, around 6.00pm. But thank God, all is well, we learned our lesson (we should start to hike earlier next time) and the most important thing is we had fun! Closer to nature :)
I took photo and video along the way, and let the photo speaks for itself. Enjoyyyy!!

| The directions sign - clear and easy to follow |
| We started 5.00pm, 30 minutes before XD |
First course. Going up to Hut 1.
| Upon reaching the Hut 2. Told ya, the direction sign is very good :) |
After Hut 3, going down all the way..
| Love the view, upon reaching this place the trail was a lil bit challenging since I didn't wear a proper hiking shoes (No stairs like the previous photo) |
| We took few minutes here for a good photo, the view was breathtaking. |
| After the nice view, we thought the climb is over. But end up climbing this stairs again right before the observation tower. |
The observation tower, we did not climb it up. After this tower we should go to the left instead of going down the stairs (Failed baca map XD)
| It's good that the direction sign has different colour based on the trails. |
| I failed to read this direction sign. Next to the observation tower. |
| End up taking this one, longer time indeed. |
